Major Hydrographic Systems Implementation project underway
Historically, LINZ’s hydrographic data infrastructure has been based on hard copy data and manual processes, making it difficult for LINZ to meet the changing needs of our primary customers.
Today, our customers require this data in an electronic format, and to meet this need we have embarked on a major project called Hydrographic Systems Implementation (HSI), to deliver a new system and core database solution.
The hydrographic services team at LINZ is gearing up to use the new system to capture and translate hydrographic datasets and metadata into a database. In future, data will be maintained at source using the new system, enabling LINZ to produce new hydrographic products, such as ENCs and updates, made available via electronic distribution / web channels.
LINZ and our customers will benefit from improved access, faster updates and easier location of hydrographic information.
